My name is Anisah Shurfa.
I have a confession to make:
*takes deep breath*
I’m a bookaholic.
I just… can’t seem to stop myself.
I’ve been sober for months.
But now I realise that’s only because I’ve been short of money.
I mean, see what happened to me this month, after I finally got my pay cheque.
I’m spiralling out of control.
It started... the way it always does.
Innocently enough.
Kak Amnah and Yeng got me a book for my birthday.
Kak Amnah and Yeng got me a book for my birthday.

I was so deliriously happy.
I finished the book in a day.
After that, I knew I needed more.
I needed the sequel.
So I went out and bought it.

It took me one night to consume.
A few days later, I stopped by Kinokuniya.
I couldn't resist temptation staring right at me.
I wasn't strong enough.
So I bought another Diana Wynne Jones to add to my collection.

After that, it got worse.
I bought two new textbooks, even though I could have just photocopied it at a cheaper price.
But how could I resist the original versions?
They just don't feel the same.

And with that, I thought I was done.
No more money means no more books.
At least, for this month.
But I made the mistake of visiting another book haven today.
MPH.
And when I discovered that the final part of the trilogy was out, I knew I had no choice.
I bought the book.
Now, I am penniless.Broke.
Yet I am still eying two more books.
If this one wasn't out of stock, I would have bought it there and then.

This one, too, if I had had enough money in my wallet.
Someone, please help me.

There's nothing wrong about being a bookaholic, I actually think it's great to be one, and you're really lucky you get to own all those books!
Now, how to join the bookaholics anonymous meeting? lol
Hehe. I have to admit; that's A LOT of books. To buy. I've read a few Dianna Wynne Jones' books; forgot the titles though... hmm, wait. Oh yeah, Hexwood and The Merlin Conspiracy. Hexwood was pretty interesting...
And yeah, the only bad thing I can see about you being a bookaholic is the ... lack of finance afterwards. xP To which I can't really think of a solution for. Unless you sell them or something, but even I can't bear to part with my own books. =T
hey. i'm a friend of naz's. i thought i'd just drop by to read your blog.
omg you are a fan of diana wynne-jones?? i thought i was the only one who loved the books. the chrestomanci series are awesome.
hey, is that the new artemis fowl book? me likey. haha.
hm... i'd like to get to know you more. if you don't mind, of course.
Wow. thats a long list of newly bought books, for sure. By the way, MPH is having a sale (Members get additional discounts=D) but my problem is not knowing what books to buy, since i usually only have enough to buy one at a time, so picking out a read-worthy one is extremely hard. especially when the bookstore you go to doesn't seem to have a great selection...
btw, haven't seen you around uia yet, where do you normally lunch?
Naz: Nothing wrong? Only when you burn a hole in your pocket keeping up with your addiction, and neglect the rest of the world just to finish an amazing novel!
You've joined just by commenting! Heheh! Welcome to the crazy, out of control world of the bookaholics! ;-)
Btw, sorry about what happened with my YM the other night. Dahlah tengah part yg juicy giler babas! Pakcik sambung cerita this weekend, ok? ;-)
Aneesah: Don't I know it! :-S Oooh, I've never read those two books you mentioned! Are they worth buying? Hehehehe :-D
I can't bear to part with my beloved books either, even after I've reread them for a hundredth time! But even if I oculd, I'd rather donate them than sell it. Spreading the book love makes me happy :-D
Adilah: Hi Adilah! Thanks for dropping by to this humble blog ;-) hehehe! I love Diana! She's one of the best writers in her genre! The way she writes about magic is really original and different, and who can resist her dry wit? ;-)
I LOVE ARTEMIS FOWL!! I stupidly read the reviews for the new book at amazon.com, and now I am SPOILED!!! asdjk@fg%rw!e! Frustration!!
Of course I don't mind! You can add me on YM.MSN at anisah.shurfa@yahoo.co.uk :-D Nice making your acquaintance!
Maryam: I'm not an MPH card holder!!! Can you believe it??? I've spent thousands on books from there alone in my lifetime, yet I have no idea how to apply :-(
When selecting books, I peel my eyes for best-selling authors, an interesting book description, and good reviews! There are, however, not many books that I usually feel worthy of purchasing. Most of the time, I just read it at the bookshop, after sneakily ripping off the plastic cover ;-)
You know, just yesterday I was wondering the same thing about you! LOL. I always have my lunch at the gallery, on the 1st floor (or should I say 2nd?? This place is SO confusing at numbering its floors!) of the Hsc building. Food's a bit on the expensive side, but it's nice and not overcrowded the way the Ground floor (or first floor) is.
Ooh, so I'm officially a member? Yey! Now I demand a membership card!
Haha 'juicy giler babas'? And I don't even recall Babas curry being juicy! :S
Pakcik??? no... you didn't use that word didn't you....
Hey, it was you who referred to yourself as the pakcik during the conversation, okay? :-P
Oooh, a membership card... wouldn't it be cool if we could make one, and then use it to go to bookshops and demand 70% discounts on all titles? *salivates*
hmm...actually i hav no idea how to apply myself. my family got me a membership for my birthday, but i think you can just ask the cashier for the form.
i usually lunch at mamma mia (awful name btw, you always sound weird when you're saying it. "i'm in Mamma mia, where are you?" lol) also quite pricey but i go there coz i'm used to the food. maybe i'll drop by gallery one of these days...
well. you're definitely not gonna be borrowing my money.
artemis fowl collects lots of great reviews, ^^. u shud buy it!
(duh~ i dunno why i didnt buy it)
